Questions: Jerry Perry, Health Sciences Library Director

  1. What are the responsibilities of a Health Sciences Library Director?
  2. What was your most challenging project to date, and why?
  3. What are you most proud of and why?
  4. What is your vision for the Health Sciences Library in 5 years? In 10 years?
  5. What are the educational requirements of a Library Director? Why did you want to become a Library Director (and when did you know)?
  6. If I wanted to be a successful  Health Sciences Library Director, what kinds of things should I be learning about and/or what kinds of issues should I be thinking about? 
  7. Would it be ok with you if we scheduled another time for recording a PODC? Is it ok to contact you if we have further questions about the interview?

4.      What was the most interesting thing that every happened to you as the Head of Education?

5.      If it’s all on Google, why do people need to take library instruction classes?

  1. What do you do and how long have you done this?
  2. Why cataloging? How did you get into this line of work?
  3. What is cataloging and why is it important for libraries?
  4. (if you have time) What do you do for fun outside of library work?

 (Your interview with Jo will be rather on the short side because she will be demonstrating on the computer what she does and some of the basic tenets of cataloging. So other questions that you might ask will stem from her demo—feel free to ask!)
