Podcast Instructions

Page history last edited by Steven Dawson 1 yr ago

You will need:

                *A microphone

                *A digital recorder

                *Recording Software

                                (audacity.sourceforge.net) free software website

                *An audio card

Instructions:

  1. Find something worth recording. (What ever you want to make into a podcast.)

  2. Next you will have to record that something. This can be done in several ways (of course there are better ways too.) Many options include: Recording straight from the microhpone on your computer with a microphone, recording from a tape recorder and finally recording from a digital recorder. We suggest recording from a decent digital recorder because computer recorders tend to be very low quality and tape recorders tend to have a very long formatting period of time after. A digital recorder can be expensive but ussually offer very good performance in recording a podcast.

  3. Your next step will be getting that particular file onto the computer. Ussually the file will be one of several audio files, including: .wav .mp3 .wmp etc. You can go about doing this in several ways. First you will need to dowload recording software for any editing you find necessary. (We recommend Audacity-listed in materials section.) Here is the tricky part. If the file isn't compateable with your editing software-ex: Audacity only takes wav. files- you need to transform that file into a wav. file. Therefore you will need to transform that file into somethign useable. You can do this by downloading any sort of "file converter" but we recommend using a wav. file from the start.

  4. Open that selected file with your recording software. (note: your recording software might have limits on what types of files can open. In this case you'd need a file converter. REMEMBER-Google.)

  5. Edit your audio file using your software-see software instructions.

  6. Export that file (if not already) as an ".mp3" file . (under file-export as-)

  7. Save a final version of your file onto your computer. (somewhere you can access easily.

  8. TINA MORE TO COME!
